New Thurmond Depot March 15, 1917 The C&O authorities are said to be preparing to erect a new passenger depot at Thurmond. It will be a three-story building located on the site of the present depot. It has been greatly needed for many years. |
Little money but much love June 9, 1904 Christ Clifford and Maggie Devlin, a Scarbro couple were married in the county clerk's office yesterday. They walked in from Scarbro leaving home at 4 o'clock in the morning. After paying for his license the groom had 90 cents left and tendered the preacher half a dollar for his services. Rev. Light asked him if that was all he could pay and the young man cheerfully gave up his remaining 40 cents and the couple started walking home tired, and broke, but happy... |
